Season 4 of The Walking Dead just premiered, and character Daryl Dixon (as portrayed by actor Norman Redus) is still very much alive.
In "The Walking Dead," the cause of the zombie apocalypse is never definitively stated. It is suggested that it could be due to a virus or contagion that reanimates the dead. The focus of the story is on the survivors and their struggle to survive in the new world.

She played Sara Tancredi, the prison doctor in season one who helped escapee Michael Scofield. Due Season was created in 2006.
I believe mid season of Season 5, they're going to kill off one (or more) of the main characters. It'll be due by that time. As to who is going to die, I have no idea. Glenn seems too much of a main character to die off this early into the TV series. I think we'd be better off watching for Tyreese or one of the folks from Sgt. Ford's group.
Due to the presence of dead space
Your question implies there was a Season 3 planned and either produced in full or partially but it was cancelled before it could air. This is of course not what happened. There was never a third season, it was cancelled after the second season due to poor ratings.
Fear the Walking Dead began with the initial zombie outbreak and has proceeded no more than a week or two from then. The original Walking Dead timeline started with Rick's awakening some time after the initial outbreak (almost certainly at least a week after but no more than 2 or 3 at most.) So FtWD's timeline is up to right around the start of WD's timeline, but of course that timeline was progressed upwards of 2 years or more past that, so it's highly unlikely the storylines will ever cross due to the time and physical distance involved.
