I love cast iron pots. If you keep them clean they are never too old.
Wouldn't recommend it. It's too heavy.
Thoughly wash the pots and pans with dishwashing detergent. Dry the pots over heat (such as: on stovetop burner). Apply a generous coating of vegetable shortning over the entire surface of the pot or pan and then bake the pot in a low oven for several hours in an oven set at less than 300 degrees. While in the baking process apply additional coats of shortning to the pot or pan. After the cast has absorbed the shortning, never leave the surface wet after washing. Always dry the cast with the use of stovetop or oven heat.
A new earthen pot is preferable to an old one to cool water because it has not been used before, meaning it doesn't have any residue or contaminants from previous uses. This allows for better evaporation on the outer surface of the pot, which results in more effective cooling of the water inside. An old pot may have developed cracks or impurities that can impair its ability to cool the water efficiently.
They got too old
Cast iron, is one example of a non-ductile metal. Unlike ductile metals, copper, steel, aluminium - cast iron is too brittle to be reworked.
The Medieval people had pots to carry water from the river near their settlement to there homes if they did not have a well and back then not many people did. They also used pots to store food. Such as corn, wheat, and beans. I hope this answered your question.
Two ways. Caulked joints and ty-seal joints. Cut the cast iron behind the hub and use a Clamp-all to join it to PVC pipe. If this sounds too difficult, CALL a Plumber. Why do you want to replace your cast iron? That would be alot of work, only replace what you need to. Unless it is your sewer line then i would replace it all to the main. I agree with answer # 1.IN ADDITION:Back in the day, cast iron joints were sealed together with hot lead. Depending on the position of the cast iron pipe and the size of it. Either one can cut the cast iron piping and clamp PVC to it or you can melt the old lead out of the cast iron joints and place PVC piping inside and then "recork" (reseal) it with prattley putty to prevent it from leaking.CORRECT1- Older CI roof drains were installed by Caulking using oakum and then pouring molten lead2- Some older CI drain drains used a Durham system meaning the Cast Iron drains were SCREWED the pipe galvanized in most cases and then the galvanized was caulked into a cast iron bell.It is unprofessional and highly unskilled to replace a cast iron leader line with plastic for several reasons.Seems the non skilled always try to use some type of epoxy..You may want to contact a licensed master plumber who has had the required 10,000 hr apprenticeship training
Cast iron skillets are designed to add a unique flavor to the foods that it's preparing. You can place a cast iron pan into the oven if you need to. With proper seasoning this pan can become like non stick Teflon pans. There are many more features but it would take too long to do complete.
The cast of Never Too Old - 2012 includes: Kristen Matiasz as Bruno and Bert
Their value depends on the condition of the bathtub. If it is too rusty and weak then it probably is not valuable for resale, but if it has been kept in a clean and sturdy condition then it could go for resale.
Often between 300 and 500ml but it varies greatly. A serving of soup is generally quoted as 250ml or a U.S. cup (8oz). Many restaurants serve about this amount in a bowl capable of holding much more.
