The first 2 weeks of November has always been good for hunting bucks during the rut i would say your best chance would be November 6th to the 15th. November 11th has always been a lucky day for me hunting rut bucks.

In the fall. Usually around the first good cold snap. They'll come down from the higher elevations and it usually starts shortly thereafter. No idea why, it baffles the scientific community. On years with really cool summers it can happen quite early, up to as early as the autumnal equinox. Rutting behaviour is pretty obvious. Mature bucks hanging around does is the big clue.

rut is the same everywhere. First rut comes about the time of the first frost. Second rut comes a few weeks later, missed does get a second chance.

2009 east Texas deer rut season?

I have been hunting in East Texas for about 30 years and the rut seems to very a little bit depending on environmental factors, but for the most part I find that the rut begins earlier in East Texas than in South Texas. It appears that the rut begins just after the first week in November. If the first day of gun season falls early in November, I haven't seen a lot of activity, but when it falls on November 6th or 7th, like this year, I anticipate seeing it kick off.

Where are there deer in Tasmania?

There are no native deer in Tasmania, but there are deer farms and certainly plenty of wild deer. The wild deer problem is so extensive that, in January 2010, there were proposals to extend the Tasmanian deer hunting season to try to control the number of wild deer roaming the state. It is believed that there are about 30,000 Fallow deer in a region roughly bordered by a line from Launceston to Derwent Bridge to Pontville to the east-coast to St. Helens and back to Launceston.
