"Early July" is all we got from apples WWDC But don't hold ur breath at the SDK event (March 6) Steve Jobs said "late June" but at the WWDC keynote (June 9) he changed it to "early July"
Unfortunately iPhone firmware is not compatible with the iPod Touch.
The new iPod 2G comes with 2.1.1 firmware
No, the update is only for iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, iPad 1, iPad 2. The highest version iOS Firmware for the iPod Touch 2G is 4.2.1.
Sadly, no i tried to use 3g or 1g firmware on my ipod touch 2g and it didn't work. You have to have the exact firmware file. Like if you have an ipod touch 1g with 2.2.1 firmware you have to have the file made for a 1g itouch that has 2.2.1 firmware
The iPod Touch firmware 4.0 that coincides with the release of the iPhone 4 has a few very good advantages, which include App Multitasking. The firmware is supposed to make apps run smoother, too.
Go to 'Settings'. Then 'about'. Your firmware is under version.
You can't use it yet as the iPod/iPhone/iPad firmware 4.2.1 has not yet been released on jailbreak me. However, there is a tethered version of the jailbreak on redsn0w but needs an extra program for rebooting your idevice.
iOS 8 is set to be released and will feature on iPod touch 5th generation, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, as well as iPad 2.
what firmware do you currently have?
It was I think they made the iPhone then some people wanted it but wasn't allowed so they brought out the iPod touch which is a bit the same exept thiner
rumors are that with the launch on the iphone 5 this summer, the ipod touch 5g is to be released too
The iPod Touch was created to fill the market void for people who wanted the features of an iPhone without being tied to a contract or necessarily wanting the features of a phone. With the increased capacity of the iPod Touch over the iPhone (32gig for an iPod Touch, 16gig for an iPhone), it has also come to fill the market voice for people who want both the features of the iPhone and the larger storage capacity of the iPod Touch.
