When is the best time to see ursa major?

It depends where you are on Earth. You can see it all year round from many places in the Northern Hemisphere. The constellations are called "circumpolar" when they are always above the horizon, but it does depend on the latitude of the observer.

Is a constellation a group of stars?

Not necessarily: There are also other types of "groups of stars". The International Astronomical Union has divided the sky, and all of the fairly bright stars, into 88 recognized constellations. A grouping that isn't one of the official 88 constellations is an "asterism". For example, one of the common groupings that we talk about all the time is the Big Dipper, which is NOT a constellation! The official constellation is Ursa Major, the Great Bear; the central part of Ursa Major contains the 8 "Big Dipper" stars, and many others as well.

How was ursa minor constellation discovered?

You don't discover a constellation. These stars are all visible to the naked eye. Who decided to put them into that pattern is unclear, but calling it the bear (ursa) probably goes back to the ancient Greeks. At that time Polaris would not have been the star at the North Pole, though.

When is canis major best seen?

That completely depends on what time of night you want to go outside and look at it. If you're like most people, and prefer to do it between dinner and bed-time, then Winter to early Spring is the best time.

Do you see stars as they are or as they were?

as they were, the time it took the light to travel from them to us determines how long ago we are viewing, even the light from our sun is 8 minutes old if I remember right.

When will the constellation Ursa Minor rise on Christmas night?

Ursa Minor or the Little Dipper does not rise. It stays in the same position in the sky all year but rotates around the North Star. For a constellation to "rise" it must spend some of its time below the horizon. Ursa Minor does not.

Do the people in Paraguay see Ursa Major?

-- The region of sky officially designated as "Ursa Major" is the 3rd largest of the constellations on modern astronomical maps. In declination (sky 'latitude'), it stretches between about +28° and +73° . . . 27° to 62° from the north pole of the sky. -- The most popular and recognizable 'asterism' in Ursa Major, the "Big Dipper", ranges between about +50° and +60° . . . 30° to 40° from the north pole of the sky. -- The latitude at the northernmost point of Paraguay is about 19.3° South. From this point, anything less than 19.3° from the north pole of the sky is below the horizon. The entire constellation of Ursa Major is farther from the pole than that, so it's completely visible from here. -- The latitude at the southernmost point of Paraguay is about 27.6° South. From this point, anything less than 27.6° from the north pole of the sky is below the horizon. This cuts off the northernmost 0.6° of Ursa Major, but the rest of it ... more than 34° of declination, is visible, including the Big Dipper. To sum it up ... At the right time of night and on the right nights of the year . . . -- The Big Dipper is visible from anywhere and everywhere in Paraguay. -- The entire region of the sky designated as Ursa Major is visible from all of Paraguay except for roughly the southernmost 40 miles, where as much as the northernmost 0.6° of that part of the sky is below the horizon.

When is ursa minor visible in new jersey?

At any time on any clear night of the year.

Can you see Ursa Major in the southern hemisphere?

Viewed from any place more than about 20 degrees north of the equator, Ursa Minor never sets, and is visible at any moment of any clear night. 20 degrees north is roughly the line through Mecca, Oman, central India, central Myanmar, Hanoi, Honolulu, Guadalajara, Cancun, and the south coast of Cuba. If you live north of that line, you can see Ursa Minor at any time. No part of Ursa Minor is ever visible from any place south of roughly 20 degrees south latitude. Between those two latitudes ... from 20° south to 20° north ... some part of Ursa Minor is visible at some time during every night of the year. How much of it depends on your latitude, and at what time depends on what night of the year.

Which gives better wide viewing angle for 3D Samsung or LG?

Both have viewing angle limitations. Both are working hard to overcome those limitations. Spend some time in the store to see for yourself which one is curently the best viewing angle. More importantly, make sure the viewing angle is sufficient for your own room. Take some measurements before seeing the televisions and sit in a similar position to your home environment.
