Hesitation when accelerating, and for some vehicles the check engine light or MIL lamp may blink on and off when the misfire occurs. The best way to check for this problem is to get a diagnostics check for misfires on the cylinders, once this is determined and the cylinders are isolated-it is possible to switch the coil pack to different plug wires to be sure the coil is the problem.

Your car was scanned an it read that cylinder 4 misfire what to do about that?

It can be very simple, or very complex. It could be a coilpack, bad plug wire, or even a bad spark plug. But it could be as serious and a cracked cylinder. First change your plugs and wires, if that doesnt fix it change the coilpack or check your distributor, whichever you have. If that doesnt do anything you will need to have the engine top end torn down and looked at

How long do coil packs last?

depends, sometimes they can last years... sometimes they can just go bad and will need replaced. If you think you have a coil pack going out, unplug one coil pack at a time... if the car runs rougher than it was, that's not the one. if you find one that when you unplug does not worsen the case then that is the faulty coilpack / sparkplug
