Units deploying to Afghanistan began receiving them in April 2010, IIRC. Special Forces and other select units had been acquiring them for some time prior to that.

When did the us army start issuing the multicam army combat uniform to soldiers deploying to afghanistan?

The U.S. Army started issuing the Multicam Army Combat Uniform (ACU) to soldiers deploying to Afghanistan in July 2010. The Multicam pattern was chosen as it provides better camouflage effectiveness in the Afghan terrain compared to the prior Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP). The use of Multicam ACU aimed to enhance the soldiers' combat effectiveness in the specific environment.

Do national guardsmen get a dress uniform?

I went through Basic in 98, and the Class A uniform was the current Army Green uniform, which is in the process of being phased out. At that time, everyone was issued Class A and B uniforms. A lot has changed in the 12 years since, but that's one which isn't likely to, and you should still be issued the current Army Service Uniform (which replaced the Class A/Army Green uniform). Upon graduation, you would be wearing that uniform for the graduation ceremony, and thus would have to have one issued to you. Special uniforms, such as Mess Dress, however, will have to be purchased on your own, if you wish/need to have them.

What color the US sharpshooter uniform?

They wear the same uniforms as the rest of their unit. This may be the ACU or MultiCam uniform for the Army, the MARPAT uniform for the Marines, the ABU for the Air Force.... special operations units have a bit more leniency in what they wear as far as uniforms go. They might wear any of the above, or even the phased out BDU, DCU, or ERDL uniforms if they saw fit to.

Why do military personnel have to wear green socks?

It is the Army branch of the military that issues green socks as part of the uniform. Other branches issue other colors of socks. The green is consistent with the rest of the typical green uniform issued to Army personnel.

What camo does the us army use right now?

The digital Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) is the norm, but units deploying to Afghanistan are being issued MultiCam. Special operations units still have the option to use M81 woodland or the three color desert camo when they feel it appropriate to do such.
