After the 21st of March, you have to have a full moon then the next sunday is Easter Sunday. Unless the full moon is on a sunday, then it's on the next sunday. So yes, Easter has always been celebrated on a sunday.
Easter is the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the spring equinox. The Equinox is March 20th, but there is a full moon just before that. The NEXT full moon is April 18th, which is a Monday. So that pushes Easter out another 6 days...
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. The equinox is march 20th and the first full moon after that is march 21st, which is a Friday. Easter falls on Sunday the 23rd. The latest Easter could be is if the moon is full one day before the equinox and the equinox happens to be monday. The next full moon would be about 27 days after the equinox. Easter then fall in or around the 24th.
Easter Sunday is determined by the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. The last time Easter fell on April 5 was in 1953. The next occurrence of Easter on April 5 will be in the year 2026.
Easter is called a moveable feast because the date of Easter changes every year. Easter Sunday can fall on any date from 22 March to 25 April. The reason for this variation in the date of Easter is based on the lunar calendar (moon) rather than our more well-known solar one. Easter always falls on the first Sunday following the full Moon (the Paschal Full Moon) after 21 March. If the Full Moon falls on a Sunday then Easter is the next Sunday.
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox. So, the phase of the moon during Easter will be a full moon.
In 2010, Easter Sunday will fall on April 4th.So you know:Easter is a moveable feast, it has no fixed date like Christmas.Since 325 CE Easter is the first Sunday after the full moon (the Paschal Full Moon) following the vernal equinox. The date of Easter varies between March 22 and April 25.
Easter Sunday will next fall on March 27 after 2016 in the year 2027. Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon occurring on or after the vernal equinox, which can result in varying dates each year.
yh its always after the first full moon yh its always after the first full moon
Easter Sunday has a 28 day "swing" cycle. It is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (March 21-22). Sorry I don't have a 2010 calendar but you can figure it out by looking up the first full moon to occur after the spring equinox next year. The following Sunday will be Easter Sunday.
2011 Easter is on the 24th of April
Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of spring. It just so happened that the first day of spring was March 20th, 2008 and the first full moon was the day after on March 21st, 2008. So, sticking with the rule the first Sunday after the full moon it lands Easter at a very early March 23rd 2008. It won't be this early for another 220 years. Don't think it will be even earlier next year because it will be the second Sunday in April next year. Have a Happy Easter.
