Penetrating fluid removes stuck boltsBolts that are heated like in the exhaust manifold/catalytic converter/muffler are easy to break. Spray bolts with penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, or WD40. Spray and let soak for several times a day for about three days. Really stuck bolts may need to be tapped with a hammer to try to get the penetrating fluid to get into the threads. WD40 IS A LUBRICANT - it will NOT break up rust.
Its a bit of a job because it is held on by the same bolts as the intake manifold, and the easiest way is to remove them both, otherwise the rusted exhaust bolts holding the tubing to the manifold is the worst.
The removal of rusted license plate bolts on a Ford starts with the application of penetrating oil. It breaks down the rust and allows the bolts to be removed without breaking.
Removing the exhaust from a 2002 Cavalier is not too hard as long as no bolts are rusted. Start by unbolting the exhaust at the engine. Remove all exhaust clamps. Unbolt the pipe joints and pull the sections from under the car.
You can try spraying the rusted parts with a penetrating oil like wd40 or a product designed to loosen rusted on bolts. Let it soak for a bit before trying to remove. In my experience a big hammer is big help.
Rusting bolts normally indicates that the bolts are brittle. Taking a pair of water pump pliers and squeezing really hard will most of the time break the rusted bolt so you can remove the toilet seat. Otherwise depending on the type of toilet seat installed, you can drill a hole right through exactly where the rusted bolts slot in, so helping you remove the toilet seat.
Start by throughly soaking them with a spray penetrating oil. Let sit overnight. Then use a long ratchet and socket to remove the bolts. You may have to work it back and forth to get them off without breaking them.

Cut the bolts off and you will have to purchase a new flange kit from any parts store.
If they are beyond repair, I cut them off with a thin metal cutting disc in an angle grinder.
The muffler is held be a few rubber exhaust hangers and 2 bolts connecting the muffler to the catalytic converter pipe.Raise the rear of the car on ramps or jack stands.Loosen the two bolts connecting the exhaust to the exhaust pipe. Often the nuts/bolts are rusted and sprays such as Liquid Wrench or PB Blaster should be used.Once the nut/bolt is removed, the exhaust is free to be removed from the rubber exhaust hangers. Some viscous liquids like dish soap or oil, forced in with a small stick or flathead screwdriver can be used to pull the exhaust from it's hangers. When the exhaust is replaced use a new exhaust gasket between the exhaust and catalytic converter exhaust pipe. These basic instructions can apply to any year Miata.
the fender must be well loosened or removed to get to the hinge bolts
