When is praying the rosary prescribed by a priest?

Answer # 1it usually is every nightAnswer # 2It is not uncommon for priests to recommend part, or all of the Rosary as penance during the Sacrament of Reconciliation.Beyond the Sacrament of Reconciliation, priests in general have always encouraged daily prayer of the Rosary, especially together as a family. One of the most celebrated advocates of praying the Rosary in the 20th century has been Fr. Patrick Peyton (January 9, 1909 - June 3, 1992), who is well known for his slogan: The family that prays together stays together. Many popes such as John Paul II have explained the significance of the Rosary and encouraged praying it.

What does a fake rosary look like?

I have never seen or heard of a fake rosary. There are little rosaries that are called chaplets for praying to patron saints. They look like a rosary but might have a different medal instead of a crucifix or a different number of beads on it. It is used the same as a rosary, for praying to a patron saint for help or to meditate in prayer to that saint. Chaplets exist for Saints like St. Patrick, St. Teresa, Divine Mercy, St. Michael, etc. You can buy them at most religious stores.

What does it mean if your rosary breaks off while its on your neck?

It simply means that you need to get a new one! - or repair the old one. The Rosary is simply an object and should not be venerated as anything special. It is simply an aid to prayer and, if God is the centre of your prayer (and He should be!) then the Rosary is unimportant and merely an object to help that prayer. Any special veneration of an inanimate object like a Rosary can lead to idolatry. Therefore, if your Rosary breaks, simply repair it or get a new one - or just pray to God without one as most Christians across the world do.

Why do christians need to have rosary when sick?

The Rosary is a devotion, a form of meditative prayer, that may be used at any time, and prayed either indivudally or in groups. It dates back to about the 13th century in medieval Europe. It is not specifically required or requested when someone is sick, but any prayer for healing is welcome. The Rosary is most commonly prayed by Catholic Christians, but it is neither exclusively Catholic nor is it required that Catholics pray the Rosary.

Do Buddhists have a special prayer?

Why is a rosary used?

The Rosary is considered by Catholics one of the most powerful prayer devotions of the Church. It can certainly be prayed with the private intention of asking or thanking Mary for her intercession in obtaining or maintaining good health. God's ultimate designs may be something else, and thus Catholics always pray resigned to God's Will, whether that manifest itself as sickness or health. God often sends hardship as a means of humbling our pride and showing us that we need to come to Him more devoutly or regularly in prayer. Praying the Rosary is a means of staying in that most healthy of spiritual relations with God; good natural health is but a bonus if that natural state is what will best allow us to save our souls.

Why people rosary everyday?

i myself am catholic, and not everyone does the rosary everyday. but people do it as a prayer (it's made up of different prayers)..... i hope this helped??Another answer:As far as personal prayers (prayers outside of the Breviary and the Mass), the Rosary is probably the most efficacious. The rosary itself, composed of Our Father's, Hail Mary's, Glory be's, etc. is NOT just mindless repetition. If you are just recited the prayers in a mindless fashion, you are not praying the rosary, and, for that matter, are not praying at all. The rosary is a set of twenty meditations, five for each "rosary". These meditations are centered on the life of Jesus. Two important points: to meditate is beginning prayer. There is much prayer beyond this, but meditation is how one begins. The second point is that meditation here spoken of, is Christian meditation. As you recite the prayers, you are thinking about the mystery proposed for that decade. For instance, the third mystery of the Joyful Mysteries is the Nativity. Obviously, you are thinking of Jesus' birth, how it came about, you picture the scene in your mind. But you also think about why He came to earth, why He is here, and how should it affect my life. In meditation, you consider all these things, ask God to help you and guide you, draw conclusions from them and ask God to help you live your life according to His Will. For instance, for every decade of my rosary, I usually start it off with something like, The Scourging at the Pillar: "Lord, help me to walk in Your footsteps, help me to know Your Father's Will and to do it; help me in this mystery to accept the pains in this life meekly and humbly without complaint or bragging, and to offer them up to Your Father, for His greater glory and honor, for the salvation of my brothers and sisters, and for my own salvation." Our Father...Now, if we have all of that down, revelations to many saints through the ages have made know to us God's will, and that is praying the Rosary is a great way to grow closer to God, a great sign of predestination, etc. There is no way that sin can remain in your life if you are praying the rosary each day. If you are sincerely praying and meditating all the mysteries of the rosary, you will grow closer to God, grace will fill your life, and sin will leave it.An excellent book, written by St. Louis de Montfort called The Secret of the Rosary lists many miracles and helps in this prayer. It is something that every Christian trying to lead a good life, conformed to God, should pray each and every day. Many saints refused to go to bed until they had finished their rosary. I find that a little beyond me, so I pray my rosary first thing when I get up in the morning.

What are the two main prayers of the rosary?

Roman Catholic AnswerThe main Catholic prayer is the Most Holy Eucharist; if you had to choose just one short prayer and say it was the main one, than, of course, it would be the Our Father, as that is the prayer that Our Blessed Lord, Himself, taught us.

Why is the rosary wrapped around the fingers of the deceased?

The rosary is probably the most basic prayer that a Catholic learns to meditate with, and not only begins, but carries it with them throughout life. In every one of the appearances of Our Lady (Jesus' mother) she always requested the rosary to be said. Putting the rosary in the hands of the deceased is both a reminder to pray for them, and a plea to Our Blessed Lady to deliver them from purgatory.
