No you should be fine if you didn't unhook the battery for a long period of time. The OBD 2 ECM is alot better and smarter then the older OBD 1 ECM. If the Check Engine light still stays on then you will need it tested and cleared. Unhooking the battery will not clear any codes. The learning process is done after 10 miles or so. If it starts and runs fine then your ok but if the alarm and keyless entry does not work if equiped then you will need to take it to the dealer to be reprogramed.
All you need to do is erase the trouble code associated with the crankshaft positioning sensor. You will need a code reader to do this.
Repairing a crankshaft position sensor would be difficult if not impossible depending on what is wrong with it. They are relatively inexpensive so replacing it is the best option.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.Remove the air cleaner housing.Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor harness connector.Remove the retaining bolt and the crankshaft position sensor.Reverse procedure to reinstall.Are the Crankshaft sensor and the Crank snsor the same?Please let me know?
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on the drivers side between the motor and the firewall. If it is faulty you may notice your car will not start, will turn off unexpectedly or will perform intermittently.
