Not sure what out put sensor you speak of but, in most cases after you replace the correct faulty part, the ecm will shut off the check engine light and eventually clear the code(s) after so many ignition cycles.
no you don't need to reset the computer. but it is always a good idea to reset it when replacing any censors. just unhook the battery cable( negative) for 30 seconds then put it back on and drive 50-75 miles to reset the computer.
drive it about 30 to 50 miles, you reset the computer when you replaced the battery. What you want is info back in the computer ,that is why a minimum of 30 to 50 miles must be driven to put info back in.
put oil in it,there is no reset if the oil is not low the sensor in the pan or wiring to sensor has a problem
When the speed sensor goes out the transmission goes into limp mode and will not allow the car to shift out of first gear. You can purchase a new out-put speed sensor from any dealership for about $17. To replace it you will find it on the driver side of the transmission case it is very simple once you locate it, the old one screws out the new one goes right back in. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before replacing so that the computer will reset itself. If the computer does not reset, remove both battery leads (NOT THE BATTERY TERMINALS and connect them with any object that will conduct electricity, FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS it is what is called A HARD RESET. (AGAIN DO NOT CONNECT THE TERMINALS JUST THE BATTERY LEADS ON THE CAR)
If it was O2 sensor or computer related the check engine light would come on. Start with replacing the fuel and air filters.
The only way to reset the sensor light on a 1985 Nissan pickup truck is to disconnect the sensor wiring. After 60 seconds, put the wiring back in place.
Put ur weewee in its hole.
take to the dealer it could be the seatbelts setting it off a bas sensor. they can put it on a computer and tell. if its been crashed the you will have to replace the seat belts to get it to go out
have you tryed disconnesting the battery for about 3 to 5 min to see if that will reset the light or you might have to take the car and get the computer wipped autozone or any parts place can put there computer on your car to tell you what the problem is it sounds like it just needs to be reset You could try pressing the yellow button (near your right knee) under the dash - then put key in and turn on while still holding it - let go after about 10 seconds this may reset the sensor. It works with the tire sensor as well.
If you have put the distributor back in the proper position and its not out a tooth you might try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes (5-10 to be safe) to reset the computer. I really think you're out by a tooth which has changed the timing though...
Bad Oxygen sensor, car usually won't start. reset computer by removing positive battery cable for 1 minute, the put back on, should start engine. have O2 sensor replaced, go to autozone or other auto place to have them put on OBD2 scanner, will tell you which sensor is bad. replace yourself or by a shop.
If it is bad, replacing it will help with the vehicles emissions and put out the check engine light.
