Difficult to give a round number as an answer. This is one of those tthings that are done "by feel" more than anything else. MUCH depends on the type of roads and surfaces it is driven over on regularly, and the driving habits of the owner. When you feel that the suspension is getting too "loosey-goosey" over rough surfaces or if the front suspension starts hopping under acceleration and the tires won't hold the road, it is definitely time.

I just traded an '06 with 98K and still had the original struts. I would definitely have them looked at carefully when it reaches around 100K.

Only you can tell.

How much should it cost to have the rear struts completely replaced on a 1997 4 cylinder Toyota Camry?

Camry struts are expensive installedI have a 1995 Toyota Camry and have quotes of $800 to $900 PER AXLE. I havn't replaced them yet, but the bushings on the rear struts are rattling. I have 139,000 miles on my Camry. $1,800 seems like a lot of money to spend on a car that is worth maybe $3,000. it should only be $172 Toyota rear strut each and then $110 labor each strut...check out discount tire as they even have buy 3 get one free today for both front/rear purchase oct2009 lasts till 10/18 only.
