"Change the waterpump when it starts dripping coolant out the weep hole or makes noise". - Scotty Kilmer
see answer given on how to change water pump on 92 deville. Same car.
hi my car is leaking from the water pump so what can i do to stop leak ? and if i need to change the water pump would you guys tell me how can i change it?my car is 1997 Buick LeSabre v6 engine
You can not, and should not drive a car that has a bad water pump. The water pump pumps coolant through the engine. You engine will overheat and die without a functioning water pump.
THE WATER PUMP IS BEHIND THE TIMEING CHANGE TO THE RIGHT OF THE CAR IF YOU ARE FACING IT.YES YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TIMING CHANGE OFF A MUST .YOU SHOULD THE TIMING CHANGE SINCE IT IS OFF.THE HOLE PROCESS IS NOT EASE AT ALL UNLESS YOU KNOW ABOUT TIMING CHANGE. how would i get detailed instructions on how to properly remove timing change so that i can remove the water pump
Maybe the belt for the water pump is loose
It depends on your experience and a car you have. Some cars have water pump very easy replaceable. Other cars (most of them) have water pump behind the timing belt. It should take you from 2 hours up 6-7 hours.
You should see the coolant circulating in the radiator when the car is running
Yes. Try to find another car in the junk yard that has the type of water pump you want to use and take all the pulleys and brackets from it.
Changing car parts has its challenges. It is not too hard to change the BMW 323i water pump, if a person has all the right tools, experience and time.
In a car the water pump circulates coolant through the engine and to the radiator.
Tuneup + water pump + timing belt change = $801
no but if you try to run the car with the water pump out you could overheat your engine
