Go to the alternate you want to add to the second tier and click add to bad spelling tier. The second tier will appear when you tell it to go there. If you are a Supervisor, click the alternate, or alternates, you want to move and click the orange button at the top saying 'move to bad spelling tier'.

The bad grammar tier, also known as second tier, is the lower level listing of question alternatives. There are a million ways to ask the same question. Ok, maybe not a million, but you get the idea. So, instead of having several of the same question floating around, the secondary questions are added as alternate wordings of the primary question - which will continue to redirect to the primary question as users ask the questions. There are two levels, 1st tier, and 2nd tier (bad grammar), of alternate wordings. First tier can only hold up to 200 different wordings, while the 2nd tier is infinite. Typically, you would want to place all the alternate wordings into the 2nd tier that have misspellings or bad grammar. This will leave room for the proper question alternatives to remain in 1st tier. Both tiers are searched when the user asks a question to see if their question already exists somewhere in the system, and will be redirected to that question if it does. To move alternates to the bad spelling (2nd) tier: # Select the boxes next to each of the misspelled or poorly worded questions. # Click on Move to Bad Spelling Tier.

How does the system of 1st and 2nd Tiers work when editing alternate versions of questions?
This is higher-level WikiAnswers editing! Alternate versions of questions are created when someone edits a question (the old version becomes an alternate), when new alternates are created explicitly, and when new alternates are created implicitly by people who ask questions and say that they are the same as existing questions. All these alternates become redirects to the "primary" wording of the question. Every question wording on WikiAnswers is unique, so an alternate cannot exist for more than one question. We set a limit of 30 alternates for any one question. The thinking is that if a question can be asked in more than 30 different ways, it can probably be split into more than one question and deserves more than one consolidated answer. The problem with the 30-question limit comes when alternates contain spelling and grammar mistakes. For example, we want "How do you change a tire on a Camero?" to be an alternate for "How do you change a tire on a Camaro?" because that enables the question to be found by people who don't know how to spell the model name of their car (which is remarkably common). But if you allow for spelling and grammar mistakes, the number of alternate versions becomes limitless. There could be an infinite number of spelling and grammar mistakes. Therefore we created two tiers of alternate versions: a first tier for legitimate alternates, and a second tier for alternates with spelling and grammar mistakes. The first tier is limited to 30. The second tier is limitless. Advanced WikiAnswers contributors can manage the alternate versions through the "edit alternates" page.

Personally - I tend to edit the question and correct the spelling if I can. Most times, the question has already been asked (spelled correctly) and thus the edited one can be merged with it.
