When you want to slow down.
2nd gear. (the gear you would use from about 15-35mph)
most of the time it saves gas but you should use low gear when towing or going down a steep hill
its for when your towing a broken down vehicle and with it being an automatic it will change its gear automatically so you use the first and second gear to drive the car when pulling another vehicle other wise you might have to spend money on getting a new automatic gear box witch are very costly.
You should use it every 40,000 miles to keep your transmission well lubricated.
automatic or manual? automatic, use mercron manual, use gear lube
2nd or 3rd gears
what is tiptronic gear box? Automatic gearbox, able to use variable gears by choice
Use a low gear. Which gear you should use depends on how steep a hill you are talking about and also how far down does the hill go. and are you using a standard or automatic transmission. Common sense should tell you to use a lower gear if the vehicle accelarates to much.
An automatic selects its own gears and some automatics do not have staged gears but are continuously variable.
You're driving an automatic, the car should select the correct gear for you. However some automatics allow the driver to select low gears for use in slow moving traffic for example. If you feel you need more power when driving uphill then select one of the lower gears.
It's use is automatic. You get a boost with every gear shift.
