ETS is Enhanced Traction System is used to stop wheel slip thru reducing engine output. There is almost no instance where you would need to turn this off. Leave it alone and leave the ETS on.
the ets button should be locater right on the side of the shifter. i know for a fact on a 97 2.2L sunfire automatic tranny.
I have a 1998 Pontiac sunfire gt and it is on the side of the gear shifter (automatic) however, if it is standard then I am unsure.
if it has ets its a thumb switch on the shifter if it is displayed on the cluster its off if not it's on or not equiped
It means your traction control is turned off. Should be a button for it on the side of your shifter.
If your ETS light is on you may want to take a look a your brakes. If your brakes are making a noise, then the sensor has tripped your ETS sensor. Your ETS light is just like the ABS in most vehicles, it means there is a brake problem. Usually it means it is time to change them. The ETS should be off unless there is an electrical problem in the switch (located on the autmatic shifter on some models), or some other electrical problem somewhere else that is causing it to read as off by the computer.
ETS is connected to your ABS. ETS is a traction control and is linked to your ABS so to get your ETS light off you'll probably have to fix your ABS to get the light off. On mine, fixing a broken wire on my ABS plug which runs into the hub fixed my problem.
ok. see the button with the wheels on it near the dimmer switch. It says ETS on it. push and it will light up.
