As my memory recalls, the Galealean thermometrer consisted of several glass globes suspended in a liquid [water?]. When the temperature increases the glass balls rise (get bigger).
They rise because they increase in volume and occupy less space and therefore become more boyuant.
Conformation of my initial belief in this answer took about 45 seconds by way of a Google query. try it!
You should use a thermometer where the average temperature you are measuring is somewhere near the middle of the range of your thermometer, and with the narrowest band possible that still keeps the limiting temperatures inside 10-90% of its range. For example, if you are measuring something that is expected to be within 95-105 degrees, you should pick a thermometer that reads 94-106 degrees, or something close to that. If you are cooking a turkey, this same 94-106 degree thermometer would be highly inaccurate.
Yes it's made entirely out of volcanic ash. So basically, it's just a big pile of floating volcanic ash in the middle of the ocean.
JOHN DALTON proposed the atomic theory that COMPARED AtOmS to MARBLES. His theory stated that atoms are "rigid spheres" that cannot be broken. The Earth's South Pole is situated on land (or rather on Ice which is covering land), near the middle of the continent of Antarctica. The Earth's North Pole is situated in the sea (or rather on Ice which is floating on the sea), near in the middle of the Arctic Ocean.
The North Pole sits on a floating ice sheet which is called the Arctic ice sheet. There is no land underneath it, but the sea depth at the North Pole has been measured at 4,261 metres (13,980 ft). Because of this, the North Pole is incapable of supporting any plant or animal life on it.
middle of oven
A digital thermometer
Place it in boiling water and it should read around 212ºF. Also, if you have a deep fryer, or crock pot, you can set the temperature, and use oil and heat it to 350ºF and test it that way also.
a guy who is floating on a board in the middle of the ocean (:
Faerie World was floating in the middle of the ocean. But now, faerie world is right next to Haunted Woods, which is now not floating and has crashed.
Breakage of a glass thermometer creates a risk of cuts from broken glass and possible mercury poisoning. Improper operation of a tympanic thermometer can cause injury to the middle ear.old or broken thermometers may give inaccurate results.

The word concentrically simply means in a concentric manner. Concentric is a term used to describe spheres of different sizes with a common middle point.
In basic terms...no. A diameter only applies to circles or spheres. The diameter is the distance across the middle at the widest point and the radius is half of the diameter.
