Are you sure its not a 1998? I don't know if the SLK was made in 1997? Anyways, Mercedes do not use cam belts, they use chains. Chains hold up much long then belts do, I don't know if any mileage or years to replace the chain, but you really should not have to unless it starts to make excessive noise.
Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class was created in 1997.
The SLK has a timing chain which lasts much longer than a belt.
How do you tell if the fuel filter is bad in 1997 230 mercedes
You always start counting from the timing belt/chain. Cylinder 4 is the one closest to the windshield on a SLK 230.
if you are talking about the 1997 slk 230 or 320 then no there is not. However there is a CD changer usually located in the trunk, but that was an upgrade
At Performance Mercedes Benz in St. Catharines, Ontario we paid $581.26 for a glorified oil change or Service "B" on our 2007 SLK 350 with 37,000 kms on it in September of 2012.
There is a discussion board for the Mercedes SLK at http://www.slkworld.com/.
