When you push the button it turns od off. There should be a little light that comes on that says "o/d off". The only times you don't want to use it are when pulling trailers or towing, up steep hills, anything that makes your vehicle work harder than normal.
Typically Overdrive is engaged when cruising, when the car is in top gear. Whether the activation button is on the dash, or on the gear selector, makes little difference to how the Overdrive system works.
yes i have overdrive button
overdrive button is located on gear shifter on automatice transmission.
On a Toyota Camry, the overdrive button will be located either on or near the shifter. It will read 'overdrive' or 'O/D.'
the D refers to drive and the D w/ circle around it refers to overdrive. use drive when driving in the city and use overdrive when traveling on highways and such
Select the " D " with the circle around it for overdrive Select the " D " if you only want to use the first ( 3 ) gears and no overdrive
When you push the button in, a signal is sent to the PCM to "block" overdrive. When you push the button in, a signal is sent to the PCM to "block" overdrive.
Pressing it will disable the overdrive.
There is a button on the side of the shifter by your thumb.
The button does not switch from Overdrive to Automatic. The button just turns the overdrive off. Overdrive is not a separate drive system as your question implies. Normally you leave the car in overdrive mode. That way the transmission shifts into overdrive at highway speeds, thus saving fuel. If you are saying the transmission is stuck in overdrive and it will not disengage then seek out a A/T professional.
Push in the overdrive button(located on the gear shift knob - below the shifter button).
OD means Overdrive. The light is on because you have disengaged the Overdrive. The button is on the shift lever on the side. Push that button to engage the overdrive.
