There is one temple in Temple Square, that is the Salt Lake Temple. There are other buildings on and around Temple Square, these include two visitors centers, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Church Office Building, the Tabernacle (where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings), the Assembly Hall, the Conference Center, the family history center, the church museum of history and art, and the church history and archives building. There are other temples in the Salt Lake City area, but the closest is about 20 miles away. These are the Bountiful Utah Temple, the Jordan River Utah Temple, the Draper Utah Temple, and the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple. You might also include the Ogden Utah, Mount Timpanogos Utah, and Provo Utah Temples. You can learn more about visiting Temple Square at www.visittemplesquare.com. The legend of Mount Timpanogos is... There was a Indian girl who was the chef's daughter and when the chief's daughter reached a certain age the chief said she had to climb up the mountain of Timpanogos and then jump off from the top of the mountain. The chief still loved his daughter, but she had to do it, so the Indian girl climbed up the mountain. As she was climbing up she met a man who knew who she was, but she didn't know him. He said don't jump off the mountain and when he said this she thought he was a god, so they got married, but one day he got attacked by a bear and so she knew he wasn't a god. Since she was all alone on this mountain she headed up farther and jumped off the top of the mountain. She now was dead, but the legend says she was buried on top of mount Timpanogos. out of all the rocks and other stuff on top of the mountain, there looks like there's a girl carved into it. With her hair, head, feet, arms, and dress carved into it. Her heart is somewhere in the mountain, when you hike up to the cave on Mount Timpanogos in Provo, Utah. There is a red light bulb in something and they call that the heart of Timpanogos.
