Since you posted under this topic, I assume you are asking about an Iver Johnson gun. IJ made many different models from 1870 to 1978 and this number may have been used on any or all of them. They made mostly inexpensive revolvers and shotguns and a few automatic pistols. There is no way we can tell you what the caliber is without seeing it. Repost with some details, particularly action type, size, and EVERYTHING that is marked on the gun.
