Since you posted under this topic, I assume you are asking about an Iver Johnson gun. IJ made many different models from 1870 to 1978 and this number may have been used on any or all of them. They made mostly inexpensive revolvers and shotguns and a few automatic pistols. There is no way we can tell you what the caliber is without seeing it. Repost with some details, particularly action type, size, and EVERYTHING that is marked on the gun.
Need to know what model and caliber.
You need to repost, give the model and caliber, and the complete serial number. N is not a serial number, and there is more than one Springfield.
Who made it, what caliber is it, is it a rifle, shotgun or hadgun, how long is the barrel, is the barrel round or octagon, what is the stock made out of, what is the serial number(if any)? Who made it, what caliber is it, is it a rifle, shotgun or hadgun, how long is the barrel, is the barrel round or octagon, what is the stock made out of, what is the serial number(if any)?
