The second time after the baptising of Jesus the dove was there, after that it came in the form of the wind gushing. the second time the holy spirit was received was during the pentecost. it was in the form of fire with a tongue-like shape and rested on every disciples of jesus in the room. this is seen in the acs of the apostles.
In the Gospel of John, the words Holy Spirit is used 5 times. In Johns other books (1st, 2nd, 3rd John, and Revelations) the words Holy Spirit are not used. But the word Spirit is use many times, referring to the Spirit of God or Holy Spirit, approximately 40 times in the New International Version of the Holy Bible.
1st person: God the Father 2nd person: God the Son 3rd Person: God the Holy Spirit a trick to remember this is the sign of the cross: "In the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
The Christian Church began at Pentecost by the power of the Holy Spirit, after Jesus had ascended to heaven. Read this account in the 2nd chapter of Acts in the Holy Scriptures. 30 A.D.
Before Jesus descended into Heaven, he informed his disciples (the remaining 11 apostles) and others of His following that the Holy Spirit would be upon them, enlightening them as to Gods plan and their evangelistic work. A concise explanation may be found in 'The Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 2'
Jesus told us that we must be born again of the spirit to see God who is spirit. This physical world is only temporary and the spiritual world is eternal. Disciples must follow Christ in all things. Just as God the Father begot Him, we humans when we repent and get baptized (Acts 2:38-39) must also be begotten by God's Holy Spirit. Then we begin to grow like an embryo until our Resurrection to spiritual children of God. God placed a spirit in man to join with His Spirit upon our repentance. This is His plan for His future family from before the foundations of the world. Without the joining of God's Holy Spirit into man's spirit, we will surely die the 2nd death.
Not everybody has the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is only given to believers/Christians.Eph 1:13 And you also became God's people when you heard the true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ, and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had promised.Eph 1:14 The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has promised his people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to those who are his. Let us praise his glory! If God gives and takes away and gives and takes away the holy spirit then a person would not know if they were saved or not. All a believers sin is forgiven - past, present and future so why would God take away the Holy Spirit? The Bible does say believers can quench/stifle the Holy Spirit.Another View:Yes, indeed a Christian who had repented and was baptized, following Jesus received the promise of God's Holy Spirit via God 'begetting' them just as He begot Jesus. Only this time it is we humans who are 'impregnated' with God's Spirit to begin our growth into children of God (2 Corinthians 6:18).During this 'growth' period, akin to the development of human life, we can sin and be forgiven. But if we willfully renounce God's great gift of His Spirit leading our lives within us, then we will lose it and never again be able to reclaim it assuring the person a fiery 2nd death - it is the 'Unpardonable Sin' Jesus spoke of in Matthew 12:31 and Mark 3:28. Consider what Paul wrote for us:Hebrews 10:26-29New King James Version (NKJV)The Just Live by Faith26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
When someone receives or is begotten by God's Holy Spirit, think of it as the beginning of a spiritual development akin to our embryo and fetal development. We are given direction and strength to avoid sin, but still have free will and are weak that we inevitably will still sin. If we repent, these sins are blotted out. If the person refuses to repent and falls back into their old ways, he/she will lose the Holy Spirit as God abhors sin. This is known as the unpardonable sin as the person once begotten has freely given it up. There is no other covering for their sins and their fate is sealed. The vast majority of humans will NOT receive the Holy Spirit is their lifetimes. Only the 'Elect' or 'Firstfruits' will and they are few compared to the entirety. In the 2nd Judgement Process, all others will be offered the Holy Spirit to become sons and daughters in the God Family. God chooses when as He knows what is best for His potential children. Not favoritism but 'agape' love.
In the Scriptures there are many examples of what happened to people after the Holy Spirit came upon them. There are two moments for the Holy Spirit to work in your life, first is upon Salvation and the Holy Spirit dwells within you - afterwards the fruit of the spirit are evident like peace, joy, patience, kindness, long suffering, etc. But the 2nd one was the Power button of Christianity and where the Gifts of the Spirit are given and operate. This is the one that I'm giving Scriptures for:Acts 1:8, "But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth." (Power to be a witness)Acts 2:4, "And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words]." (Spoke in tongues)Acts 4:31, "And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage." (Boldness to speak the Word)Acts 9:31, "So the church throughout the whole of Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was edified [growing in wisdom, virtue, and piety] and walking in the respect and reverential fear of the Lord and in the consolation and exhortation of the Holy Spirit, continued to increase and was multiplied." (peace & encouragement and a respect for God)Acts 10:38, "How God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him." (power to do good and to heal)Acts 19:6, "And as Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke in [foreign, unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesied." (spoke in tongues and prophesied)Romans 15:13, "May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope" (unshakeable joy, peace and hope)That's just an introduction.
No because you have not had your 2nd sacrament the 1st is baptism 2nd Holy communion 3rd Confirmation
Roman Catholic Answer:In the Latin rite the sacrament of Confirmation is conferred through the anointing with chrism on the forehead, which is done by the laying on of the hand, and through the words: "Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit." The effect of the sacrament if the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit as once granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost. It brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace. It roots us more deeply in the divine filiation which makes us cry, "Abba! Father!"It unites us more firmly to Christ. It increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us.It renders our bond with the Church more perfect. It gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the cross.from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2nd edition
It means you are close to him and he gives you a sort of power of understanding and spirituality. To be close to him you must be close to god and Jesus to, because they are one.Roman Catholic Answer: The Holy Spirit is "sent" by the Father and the Son on the mission of accomplishing the work of salvation in the souls of men. He came down upon the apostles on the day of Pentecost, confirming them in their faith and filling them with the fullness of all gifts that they might preach the gospel and spread the Church throughout the world. He sanctified us by his graces and by the virtues he infuses, and enlightens and moves us so that, if we co-operate with grace, we may attain to everlasting life.
