The French and Indian War is the common U.S. name for the war between Great Britain and France in North America from 1754 to 1763. In 1756, the war erupted into the world-wide conflict known as the Seven Years' War which involved the colonies in North American. Boston was a strategic port in that conflict and afterward it was a post that protected trade that originated in the West Indies and passed up the Atlantic seaboard eventually to England. They were also there to make sure the colonies kept their allegiance and paid taxes to the mother country. In their day, they were the ones who were backing up the IRS of the day.
