One of the most important landmarks in engine design comes from Nicolaus Otto who in 1876 invented an effective gas motor engine. Nicolaus Otto built the first practical four-stroke internal combustion engine called the "Otto Cycle Engine," and when he completed his engine, he built it into a motorcycle. Nicolaus Otto was born on June 14, 1832 in Holzhausen, Germany. Otto's first occupation was as a traveling salesman selling tea, coffee, and sugar. He soon developed an interest in the new technologies of the day and began experimenting with building four-stroke engines (inspired by Lenoir's two-stroke gas-driven internal combustion engine). After meeting Eugen Langen, a technician and owner of a sugar factory, Otto quit his job, and in 1864, the duo started the world's first engine manufacturing company N.A. Otto & Cie (now DEUTZ AG, Köln). In 1867, the pair were awarded a Gold Medal at the Paris World Exhibition for their atmospheric gas engine built a year earlier. In May 1876, Nicolaus Otto built the first

He invented the gas powered motor in 1827.
The gas and the motor or engine.
In 1859 a Belgian engineer Jean Joseph Étienne Lenoirdeveloped the first internal combustion engine. It was a single-cylinder two-stroke engine which burnt a mixture of coal gas and air ignited by a spark-ignition system. He patented it in 1860.Nicolaus Otto invented a gas motor engine in 1876. He built the first practical four-stroke internal combustion engine, called the "Otto Cycle Engine", and built it into a motorcycle.Otto's patent was later revoked when it was contested by Beau de Rochas.Jean Joseph Étienne LenoiAmerican engineer named George Brayton made the first petrol engine. It was a two-stroke kerosene engine.Nicholas Joseph Cugnot really invented it in 1769.Neither Daimler nor Benz did, they just invented highly successful and practical gas-powered automobiles that ushered in the age of modern motor vehicles.Another answerNicolaus Otto invented a gas motor engine in 1876. Yes, it has one electric motor and one gas powered engine. The engine creates electric power to turn the electric motor.
Electric vehicles combine a duel power source to move the vehicle. They combine a gas engine with an electrical motor. The engine works by using the electrical motor to assists that gas engine when it is needed. For example, when coasting, a normal car would use gas to power itself. But in an electric vehicle, the electrical motor is used in this instance because the gas is not needed, rather the electrical engine is used to power the vehicle and save gas.
You cannot convert a gas engine to an electric motor. You might install an electric motor in place of an gas engine, but that would be a very difficult job, that I could not provide instructions on and neither could anyone else in the space provided. I suggest you search for an answer on Google, and on other search engines. You cannot convert a gas engine to an electric motor. Etienne lenior invented the gas engine.
gas might not be getting to the engine why the question so vague?
