It was called the 'cold' war because it never erupted into actual war or fighting between Russia and its allies and the US and its allies.
But closely linked to the Cold War was the USA's "Containment policy" drawn up by president Truman in the late Fourties. This policy held that Communism must be contained to only the countries were it was in power at the time. It was this policy that in the Fifties led to the Korean War and in the Sixties to the Vietnam war.
Both were against communist aggression. The cold war was no shooting; Vietnam was shooting.
Cold War means "no violence or no shooting." WAR is a series of battles. Very seldom is one battle a war. A Hot War is a shooting war. The Korean War was the first "Hot Battle" of the cold war. Korea was the FIRST violent clash between the Communist World and the Free World. It ended in a draw, or at least the communists were STOPPED at the 38th Parallel. The Vietnam War was the second "Hot Battle" of the cold war. The communists won that war.
COLD WAR=No Shooting/communists and Free World facing each other Vietnam War=Shooting/communists and Free World shooting at each other
Cold War=military stand off (no shooting, no dying)
Secrets are part of any war, cold or hot (non-shooting or shooting); it called classified. A-Bombs made the cold war.
The Korean War was the FIRST "Hot" battle of the COLD WAR. The Cold War was a non-shooting (no violence) stand-off between the communist world and the free world. Communist North Korea invaded South Korea; a clear case of self defense.
Words. Words are the weaponry of a cold war. The term "Cold War" means "no shooting".
A hot war is shooting at each other. A cold war is facing each other but NOT Shooting.
They were both wars against communism; its just Vietnam was a shooting war and the cold war was NOT a shooting war. Example (analogy)-It would be like two men arguing in a bar (as an example) about something (which would be the cold war) and then going outside and having a fist fight...or worse ( this would be Vietnam) about the same argument.
There was no "Cold War" uniform. The Cold War was an uneasy peacetime situation, not a uniformed shooting war - that is called a "hot" war.
Cold War=No War Hot War=Shooting War (Men dying) Warm War=Almost shooting, but no one's pulling the triggers...yet!
The Vietnam War was a "hot" battle of the COLD WAR. The "cold war" was a non-shooting war waged against communism.
