The leopard is a large, big speckled cat native to Africa, Asia and the Middle East and has been features in art, mythology and folklore in many countries where they have historically occurred including Ancient Greece, Persia (Ancient Iran), Rome and Africa. Leopard domestication has also been recorded: King John for example had several leopards in the 13th century around 1235. As for when they were discovered that is a more difficult question. Records of Leopards date back to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia some 3,000 years ago, thus they were "discovered" in these times in the areas where they were native. Recordings and sightings of leopards have been documented since history was recorded, so they Leopards were never actually "discovered", but they've played a huge part in human culture and lifestyle because of they were so common. It's a fascinating subject and to learn more about it, check out your local library, there are several formats that detail the relationship ad history between leopards and humans including documentaries, books, magazine articles, web links etc. etc.
There were leopards, or close relatives to leopards around already when humans became humans. It's no longer possible, nor would it make any sense, to say who was the first to "discover" leopards.
