In many countries tobacco can not be advertised on television, the radio, or billboards. Some countries allow advertising in printed media. In most countries tobacco ads, as well as tobacco products themselves must be printed with a warning.

In the US, the ban on radio and TV advertising for cigarettes went into effect on January 2, 1971. Chewing tobacco ads were not banned until August 28, 1986.

Magazine, newspaper, and billboard advertising for tobacco products are still permitted. Certain magazines remove tobacco ads from versions of their publications intended for school libraries, but this is voluntary, not mandated by law.

Its Never been banned maybe in some states but from what Ive learned people keep advertisement out even for younger children to see so they can make more money off of it Because the more younger children see things like that the more they get used to it. Honestly tobacco brand company's don't care. All they do care about is the money even though people will die from using it. So i suggest to not smoke or do drugs 40,000 people a year die from smoking and even the people around u get hurt 3,000 people die from 2nd hand smoke. Smoking is a terrible thing and can cost allot of money over time so please never start it u will only hurt yourself and the loved ones around u.
