Brandon Sanderson was chosen to finish Book 12 of the Wheel of Time series by Tor Books and Harriet Jordan on December 7th, 2007.
A Tor Books news release from March 30, 2009 states that "A Memory of Light" (volume 12 of Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series) will be divided into three volumes, due to its projected length of 700K-800K words.
The first volume, titled The Gathering Storm was released October 27, 2009 (a week sooner that first planned). The following two volumes Towers of Midnight and A Memory of Lightare currently projected to be published November 2010 and November 2011.
Book 14, titled A Memory of Light, is currently scheduled to be released on January 8'th 2013. It will be the final book in the series.
