Why was it important that Rand's group got back the Horn of Valere in 'The Great Hunt'?

Because the Heroes of the Horn must answer the call of the one who first sounds it, and is linked to that person until that persons death. They did not want that power to belong to the Shadow.

The horn isn't linked to the light, the heroes of ages will come to anyone that sounds it. May he be of the light or the dark

What are the differences between the various bonds in the Wheel of Time?

There are several types of bonds in the Wheel of Time universe.

The Warder Bond:

The first and most common type of bond is the bonding of a Warder to an Aes Sedai. The weave for Warder bonding is almost always performed on a man, with one notable exception. The bond bequeaths benefits to both Warder and Aes Sedai, although what the Aes Sedai gains from the bond other than a protector is less understood. The Aes Sedai can, however, use the bond to compel their Warders to perform actions, almost like Compulsion. When someone is bonded as a Warder, that person requires less sleep and can endure more hardship than usual. The Warder and Aes Sedai gain a mutual awareness of each other that provides information about general location, overall health and mood and is described as a pocket of awareness in the back of the mind, although an Aes Sedai can mask the bond from her Warder so he is unable to locate her. When a woman is bonded as a Warder this awareness is intensified to the point where each woman has difficulty keeping the emotions of the other separate from their own, and can even share the effects of alcohol. If an Aes Sedai dies and her Warder lives, the Warder experiences a despair and battle fury that more often than not results in his death. If an Aes Sedai's Warder dies, she does not go mad, but experiences despondency and uncontrollable bouts of crying.

The Asha'man bond:

Male channelers can also perform a type of bonding, although not exactly like the Warder bond. The benefits are not as well known as the Warder bond, although the bonder/bondee can feel each other in a similar fashion. It is possible to use the bond to compel obedience, and in this manner many Asha'man keep control of captured Aes Sedai.

Other bonds of note:

In addition to an Aes Sedai being able to bond multiple Warders, one person can be bonded by multiple women. Rand al'Thor is bonded by no less than four women. Another bond of note is the Aiel sibling bond. It is given by Aiel channelers (Wise Ones) to two others, which do not have to be able to channel. It is used in Aiel society when two people wish to adopt a near-sister/brother as a first-sister/brother. While it does not give the benefits and drawbacks of a Warder/Asha'man bond, it does seem to give the recipients a sense of closeness and small degree of awareness of each other.

What books will be in the wheel of time movie?

The Wheel of Time television series is based on the book series of the same name by Robert Jordan. The first season is primarily based on the first book, "The Eye of the World," but it also draws inspiration from elements of other books in the series. The subsequent seasons will likely cover the remaining books in the series in chronological order.

How many pages of actual story are there total in the Wheel of Time series?

  • As of book 13, Towers of Midnight, there are 4,060,310 words including the novella, New Spring. The last book is estimated to be over 300,000 words, so it will be almost 4 and a half million words at the time of completion.
  • If we estimate roughly 400 words per page, and 750 pages per hardback volume, for 12 volumes so far....

that multiplies out to a little over three and a half million words, or almost five times the length of the Bible (standard old and new testaments.)

I'd be willing to bet the WoT is probably the longest single story ever written.

Who is the lord of chaos in wheel of time?

It is unknown for certain who is being referred to by the appellation of "Lord of Chaos" but many believe it to be Rand Al'Thor himself. Others think it may be the Dark One, but this seems less likely due to the phrasing of the Dark One's command to Demandred to 'Let the Lord of Chaos rule" in the book of the same name.

What kind of relationship did Robert Jordan have with Terry Goodkind?

Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind were both competitors in the same field. One might call them rivals, but they were both very careful not to let their personal opinions become public knowledge. Whenever asked about Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan would reply "I am aware of Mr. Goodkind". One can stipulate that the only reason he would reply in such an obviously evasive manner is because he had nothing nice to say about Goodkind. But we don't know for sure.

What is a plot for The Dragon Reborn?

Another blurb extract, if you will:

'The Land is One with the Dragon-and the Dragon is One with the Land.

The Shadow lies across the Pattern of the Age, and the Dark One has turned all his power against the prison that binds him. If it fails he will escape and nothing will stand in the storm that blows then...save the man who was born to battle the darkness:Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn.

But to wage his war Rand must find Callandor, ancient Sword of the Dragon...and the Forsaken will shatter the world to thwart him.'

Just to help, Callandor is a special and very powerful sword (in a way) that can only be held by the Dragon Reborn, as it is protected by both saidar and saidin shields. Callandor is actually a very strong sa'angreal, which is why it will help Rand apart from being a shimmery sword.

How is the 'Eragon' series similar to the 'The Wheel of Time' series?

The Wheel of Time series is 13 books long and is vaguely reminiscent of Lord Of The Rings, although extremely unique in telling it defers greatly in time line, history, human types and hybrids. Truthfully, the only real correlations is that they both delve in magic (of sorts) and are in the fantasy realm. It can be said that where Tolkien is more of a spot-on Fantasy-Fantasy, R. Jordan is more of a Realistic-Fantasy, blending mundane ages with magical, adding realism to surrealism.

Eragon is also set in a world with quests etc. but it's about "Dragon riders" who are destined to meet and ride their fated Dragons and one of the Dragon riders turns evil and starts killing the other dragon riders and their dragons and this kid gets sucked into this war and begins adventuring. If you liked Wheel Of Time, you would most likely not be impressed with Eragon, as it seems to be a compilation of knock-offs from other fantasy realms. Plot, Arch-types, the like. Also, where as Robert Jordan succeeded in elaborate tales, politics, portraying the land and character depth, Paolini seems to be lacking. This could also be due to his young age(15) at writing the Inheritance Cycle Books (Eragon and up.)

Along those lines I'd also recommend the Dune series, Trickster's Choice & Trickster's Queen, East (based off of the original Norwegian folktale east of the sun and west of the moon)

The first of the Wheel of Time books was published thirteen years before Eragon. The beginnings of both stories have young men for main characters, living on farms outside of town. Both were raised by men that were not their fathers. These men were both severely wounded by animal/human hybrids that destroyed their homes. Both main characters went back into the wreckage to retrieve their bows and arrows, then had to make a stretcher of sorts to drag their foster fathers into town to be healed. They were then sought out and had to flee their home towns. Their travel partners also have many parallels. Roran and Perrin (whose names sound alike) are both down to earth, quiet, heroic types that prefer hammers over swords. They both love their villages and convince the peaceful community to leave their farms, pack up what they own, and go battle what threatens them. Matrim and Murtagh are both being somewhat directed by forces dark forces outside of their control. The main characters also both travel with magical females. Moiraine and Arya both come from groups that are magic casters and have very close ties to the female leaders of their groups. There are also other scenes that seem "borrowed" such as the main character pulling water up from beneath the desert floor.

It is to be noted that the similarities between these books are superficial; The overall storyline is greatly enhanced within the Wheel of Time series, along with a multitude of other significant traits that define a master author.

What is the reading order of Robert Jordans Wheel of Time series needs to be updated There are several more prequils and I can't find a reading order that includes them Thank you?

The only prequel is New Spring. There is some confusion because the first book was split into two books when they tried to make it a young adult series. The two volumes are called From the Two Rivers and Into the Blight. They are just repackaged versions of Eye of the World. There is a short story called The Strike at Shayol Ghul that was set in the age of legends.
