It's different for everybody. The average age to begin Puberty is 12 - 13, but some begin as early as 8 or 9 and some as late as 17 or 18. Don't worry about it. In general, the "growth plate" closes during puberty allowing pre-pubescent teens to continue to grow. So you might end up being a little taller if puberty is postponed.
People with kallmanns syndrome don't begin naturally, and need testosterone replacement treatment to go through puberty.
Remember, it doesn't happen in a couple days. It starts slowly, with hair showing up on different parts of the body (armpits, upper lip, legs, groin, penis etc...). As the penis grows, so does the hair, the voice crackles, then it starts to get deeper.
Puberty is very variable. Boys can start it at different ages (the normal range for it to start is considered to be from 9 years of age until the late teens). The average age is generally 12 to 13. Boys don't all go through the various stages in the same order. Here are some visible signs of puberty which might happen in any order... growth of hair on your scrotum and in the region of your penis (also around your anus), growth of hair on your ankles and in your armpits. Growth of facial hair. Your penis will get longer and thicker, your scrotum will get darker in colour and hang lower to accomodate the increasing size of your testes. You will sweat more and your sweat will begin to smell. You may get spots and blackheads. You will grow taller and your muscles will develop. You will find yourself think about sex a lot and you will get erections. You may find yourself mentally comparing the size of your own penis with the penises of other boys in the showers at school, this doesn't necessarily mean that you are gay, just that you are curious which is perfectly normal. You may also feel the urge to masturbate and when you do at some point you will eventually produce sperm. Oh and your voice will "break" and lower in pitch as your larynx (voice box or Adam's apple) enlarges and you'll also suffer from abrupt mood swings (your family will suffer because of them too). There is no definitive end point to puberty. By 21 or so years of age (if not sooner) you probably have reached your maximum height and your penis will probably have reached its maximum length but muscle mass and body hair may continue to extend after this age and may continue into the mid thirties or perhaps even later. The mind of a boy will also change and he will develop adult attitudes and ways of thinking. As part of this process teenagers often become rebellious. Initially rebellion may be limited to disagreements with their own parents but soon they begin to question other parts of society, religion, laws and virtually everything else. This is good, it is the way things are meant to be. As a young child you accept unquestioningly the decisions of your parents. As you reach puberty you begin to question everything, it is part of the process of growing independent, of becoming an adult yourself who is capable of making his own decisions. Moods are greatly influenced by hormone levels and at puberty the body is awash with hormones, which can lead to very intense feelings and hugely variable mood swings. One moment you're on top of the world and the next minute you hate yourself and want to die (so to speak). These feelings are typical and eventually, as the process of puberty tails off, the mood swings will lessen. You'll develop your own personality and ideas, which will be different from those of your parents but not necessarily bought lock stock and barrel from your favourite band or movie.
Guys, here's a little shorter way of looking at it, everyone reaches puberty at a different time. Don't worry about it as it is a natural process that takes 5 to 6 years to pass. When you have, you will be an adult with full functioning parts.
yes it is healthy to workout at any age. and if you are 13 you are NOT almost through puberty!! puberty ends at ages 19-21
17 sounds a bit late to have not even started. I'd contact a doctor and see if there's any hormone problems.
It's almost always genetic. Ask your parents when they went through puberty. You can expect to go through it within a year or two of the same age. If you and your parents think you have a hormone problem preventing you from going through puberty, a G.P. or pediatrician can run tests to see if there is a reason for concern.
No.
Some boys can start very late, into their late teens. However, if you are concerned, speak to your doctor about possible hormone issues.
no, you still grow a little after you go through puberty, but you dont grow as much or as fast as when you were going through puberty
Well, ask your mom when she got hers, that probablly will pinpoint you to when you will get yours!Well, ask your mom when she got hers, that probablly will pinpoint you to when you will get yours!
make a doctors appointment and talk to them about it.
Puberty goes on until you are 18yo. You are not done yet.
If you have not reached puberty at 18 you need help from a doctor to start it with medical help.
If you are a girl, then it must be because they have noticed other girls around your age who have started or gone through puberty. When you are a girl, they will look at your chest because at your age they would expect that you have developed, or at least started to develop breasts. not to worry though, some people are late with puberty and everyone reaches puberty at a different rate...i.e, I am a 17 year old guy and I still haven't gone through puberty. I have no hair around my genitals or under my arms, no facial hair but its because I am a late bloomer. Hang in there, it will happen eventually.
Don't worry, at 15 year old penis size depends almost entirely on when you started puberty. If your friends started puberty early their penises will be bigger than yours now, but you'll catch up quickly. If you started puberty late, then maybe your penis just started growing. Most guys' penises are finished growing by 17 or 18 years old. Don't worry, your penis will finish growing and look great.
