The South Carolina deer rut or the peak of rut season for the Piedmont is between October 15th and November 15th.

Deer hunting during the rut is mainly waiting for the overactive, hormone-filled animals to cross your path. Hunting post rut, when the deer have learned the lessons of deer season and have satisfied their urges, is a bit more challenging.
