Electricity isn't something that we dig out of the ground. We take other energy

resources and convert them into electrical energy. As long as we keep doing that,

we'll never "run out of electricity" ... we'll just keep generating as much as we need.

But the supply, and therefore the cost, of the other resources that we use to

generate electrical energy can certainly run down ... like coal, oil, natural gas,

and wood. We're using these things faster than they're created by natural

processes.

So if we want to keep using electrical energy, then eventually we have two choices:

1). Use less of it, slower.

2). Learn to make it out of resources that don't run out, or that exist in such

abundance that there's no way that humanity could ever use it up, like nuclear

energy, wind energy, tidal energy, and solar energy.

Since you asked, and you're starting to think about this question, here's a little

factoid that's kind of close to the subject:

The United States, alone, uses more energy for air conditioning, alone, in a year

than all 58 countries and dependent territories on the entire continent of Africa

use for all purposes, in a year.
