A rifle is a rifle is a rifle. As long as it isn't an NFA (National Firearms Act) restricted, or "Class 3" weapon, such as a fully automatic machine gun, or class 2 weapons, which includes short barreled (under 16") rifle, short barreled (under 18") shotgun, a silencer or suppressor, or a destructive device such as a grenade launcher or rifle over .50, or anything which falls into the AOW class such as a rifle disguised as a guitar, there is no legal distinction between types of rifles or shotguns.
If you are buying from a licensed dealer, which would include all gun and sporting goods stores that sell guns, any NFA restricted class 2 or 3 weapons will be clearly marked as such, if not in their own special section. You must be 21 to buy these, plus undergo the NFA licensing process
There is no difference between grandpa's lever action .30-30 and an AK-47 or AR-15 in the eyes of the law, unless of course you live somewhere like California or Chicago or NYC, which all have very restrictive gun laws unique to their jurisdiction.
Basically, as long as you're 18 and live in a free state and can pass an NICS criminal background check, you can buy anything from a single shot .22, to any type of shotgun, to an AK with a 100 round drum magazine, to a belt-fed .50 caliber machine gun as long as it is semi-automatic only.
I hope this answers your question!
Neither. It is an assault rifle.
either
Well i don't think so as i think fmj will only work on the assualt rifle not the shotgun
18 to buy a rifle or shotgun, 21 to buy a handgun or assault rifle.
An assault rifle is a rifle that has more than 22'' inches of barrel and has selective firing rate, while the carbine rifle has a less 22'' inches barrel and semi automatic. ^^ Wrong.. An assault rifle is any select fire rifle that is chambered for an intermediate cartridge... Barrel length has nothing to do with it. The M16 has a 20" barrel length and is considered an assault rifle. The AK47 has a 16" barrel and is considered an assault rifle... Carbines that are select fire and chambered in an intermediate cartridge are still considered assault rifles.
Hunting guns are typically used for sporting purposes and hunting animals, whereas assault rifles are designed for rapid fire and are considered more dangerous in civilian settings. Regulations around owning assault rifles are stricter due to their potential for mass casualties in a short amount of time.

A TRUE Assault Rifle is legally a machine gun. They are used by military and by specialized security forces, and shot by a very few collectors that can afford a several thousand dollar rifle. What people are CALLING an Assault Rifle, such as the AR-15, is nothing more than a semi automatic rifle. They are used for hunting, target shooting, and self defense.
Shotgun with buckshot, 30 caliber rifle, etc.
Newspaper, gun show, gun shop, Shotgun News, etc..
That will depend on the individual. Some will prefer a shotgun and others a rifle.
