The black wire goes to the brass colored screw and the white wire goes to the silver screw.
You can rewire your extension cord by replacing the existing wire with green, black and white wires. In most situations it is safer and cheaper to buy a new extention cord.
You can't but you can install a plug on the end of a cord. Just go purchase one and install it. Very simple to do. Black wire goes to copper screw, white wire goes to silver screw, and ground or green wire goes to ground screw. It both wires are brown then connect the wire with the ridges on the outside of the wire to the silver screw as it is the neutral. The wire that is smooth is the black hot wire which connects to the copper screw.
The compound noun 'electric cord' is singular, a word for one cord. The plural noun is 'electric cords'.
When flexible cords are talked about the ground wire is in the conductor count. A four wire cord will have black, red, white, and green coloured wires in the flexible cable set. A three wire cord will have a black, white and green coloured wires in the cable set. To use a four wire cord to carry 220 volts just use the black, red and green wires. Connect to the cord ends. Black and red to the outside blade terminal screws and the green wire to the green ground screw. To use a three wire cord to carry 220 volts just use all of the wires. Black and white to the outside blade terminal screws and the green wire to the green ground screw.
On a 3 wire dryer cord there is no green wire. The white wire coming from the outlet is connected to ground or the green screw. The black and red wires are the hot wires.

STEPS IN CONSTRUCTING A SIMPLE ELECTRIC CIRCUIT:1.Prepare the materials.2.Remove the bulb from the receptacle.3.Unscrew the screw in the receptacle using a screw driver.4.Extend the cord of a wire using pliers.5.Connect the cords of the wire in between the loosen screw and the receptacle.6.Put the bulb again on the receptacle.7.Attach the cord at the end of both batteries.
Yes, Silver screw to the white wire or wire with the rib. Brass screw to the black wire or wire that has no rib. Green wire to green screw.

you can get an electric shock from an extention cord because if you are Vaccuming your car and you pull the extention cord out of the plug you will get a 2-5 second shock
If the cuts depth is just the outer protective covering just tape it with electrical tape and you will be fine. If the cut penetrates the insulation of the underlying conductors on the green or white wire, tape the cut and then tape the outer layer of the protective covering. If the cut penetrates the black wire then it is best to get rid of the cord. If the cut is close to the end on a longer extension cord, cut the end off where the cut is and get a new end from a DIY store. Remember white wire on silver screw, black wire on brass screw and green wire on green screw. Do not use the cord with the cut uninsulated as this could lead to a dangerous situation especially if the cord is used in a damp or wet location.
