When you arrive at a scene of a fire or accident, you should park your vehicle where it will not cause what an unnecessary obstruction to other emergency personnel.

DO NOT:

  1. Block the roadway or thoroughfare.
  2. Block the clear access of a fire truck.
  3. Block the clear access of anyone in Command, ex. Fire Chief, who has not yet arrived (or who needs to leave).
  4. Block a fire hydrant unless you want firemen to smash your windows to put the hose through your vehicle.
  5. Block an ambulance from getting close enough to the scene.
  6. Block-in any other parked emergency vehicle, example, the police.
  7. Park too close to a burning building.
  8. Park on sidewalks.
  9. Block in residents' vehicles, esp. if they need moved out of the way.
