When you first get a laptop how long does it take to install updates?

The time it takes to perform installs such as an OS update depends on the size of the file you are installing and the processing power of your computer. If you are installing the update from an online source it will also depend on your internet speed.
A quick laptop (duo or quad CORE processors) can perform an update in as little as 30mins, where as a slow computer (single core or atom processor) with a large update can take several hours.

∙ 11y agoDepending on the program that you have, it usually goes through an easy process. Usually, when you start a program, it will run a scan to see if there is a newer version available of the program that you have. It will scan the version of your computer, and asks a website at the internet what the newest version is. This is very simple, when you for instance have a version 1.3, and it notices 1.35 is available, it will send that your version is not up to date. When it notices it is not up to date, it will download the information needed to update the program, and store it as a temporary file. Then, it will install the file, afterwards deleting the downloaded information. Now it has new updates installed.
