When you format your Desktop PC do you need the SATA drivers at install again?

You format (install a filesystem on) drives, not PCs, however, if you (likely) mean formatting the drive from which your machine currently boots Windows, then the answer is 'almost certainly' and 'look for the message to "Press F6 now to supply drivers"' when you attempt to reinstall.

well mate, your disk that you are talking about contains all the drivers and lets say you format your hard disk completely and install windows again, you will have to re install all the drivers again so my advice is that first you find out your dell driver disk (The one which is labelled with drivers on top). If you can find that than you can take the next step, use an windows cd\dvd (If you lost that too, you can buy a new one) to a comlete new install, to clean whole disk, you can delete and make new partitions or you can format partitions othar than windows one after installing a fresh copy of windows. And if you don't have any thing than call dell customer support and ask what your options are (Usually You Can Buy A New Set Of Discs). ..............................

Did you format your hardrive? If you did than windows isn't on the machine anymore. You will have to install the OS again.

I do know abt ahsan virus which disable cmd, taskbar, regedit and f__k your PC.. i dont have any removal but i have a trick You have 2 diffrent option: 1 - Format Complete Drive and install windows again and dont use your old data... 2 - If u dont want to lose your data so why dont u do one thing! 1st of all uninstall XP then manually format active drive (windows drive) then install windows 98 ... and also install any authentic antivirus then check your other drives with the use of antivirus when your search is complete then copy your very important data in to other external drive or USB and then Format Complete Drive and install windows again.. This is a common problem with first time Sata HDD users. Don't worry see carefully in your Motherboard you have 4 slots where you can plug the 'RED' cable of the HDD. Try plugging it in each of the slot, it works if you try again and again. If all fail just pull out all the cables of HDD wipe them clean and try again. P.S. - check for scribbling noise from the HDD if its there go replace it at once they wount charge you (if its under warrenty!). GRat There might be a problem of drivers. Windows XP does not include the SATA drivers but during setup you can provide additional drivers using a floppy disk. There is also a trick that allows you to integrate the SATA driver on your install CD using nLite Serge

Formating will totally wipe the partition while Recovery will restore your computer to a earlier state, for example Factory Settings. If one format the partition with the Recovery files one will need a bootable Windows 7 DVD or USB stick to install Windows 7 again.
