No. Pressure could be simplified to mean the "space between particles" and because gravity is always pulling those particles towards the earth, the further away from the earth you go, the less air particles there are and consiquently the more space there is.

As you get higher in the atmosphere the space between air particles?

Increases

As you get higher in the atmosphere does the temperature increase or decrease?

decrease

Why does the density of the atmosphere decrease with height?

The Earth's atmosphere declines with altitude.

How does higher altitude have an effect on pressure?

The higher you go into the atmosphere the less particles are present, because of gravity, so you have less particles pressing against you (pressure).

As you get higher in the atmosphere does the particles get closer together or farther apart?

the particles get closer together because my class just talked about that stuff!!

How is heat from warm ocean water released into the atmosphere?

particles of water vapor collect dust around the air causing it to rise higher until it reaches the atmosphere

Why does the temperature decrease as elevation increases?

The heat of the earth escapes through the atmosphere into outer space. Greenhouse gases interfere with/ clog up that process. The higher up in the atmosphere, the colder it is. So it is colder at higher elevations. Also, the low air pressure a sparsity of air particles cause the air to be thinner and colder

Does the temperature increase as you get higher up in the atmosphere?

As you get higher up in the atmosphere there is less and less air on top of your head so there is less weight, meaning there is less pressure. Gravity. Atmosphere will be more compact closer to Earth because particles in the air have mass and are thus pulled down by gravity.

How do you decrease air resistance?

Resitance of air varies based on: 1. Percentage content of moisture (higher the moisture, lesser the resistance) 2. Percentage content of suspended dust particles and conductivity of those suspended particles (higher the content, lesser the resistance)

Does increasing the temperature increase or decrease the speed of diffusion?

Increasing the temperature will increase the speed. Remember Dalton's theory: Particles at a higher temperature tend to move faster on average than particles at a lower temperature.

What is the relationship between solubility of a gas and a solid vs. temperature.?

When the temperature increase, the kinetic energy of the solid, liquid and gas particles increase. Therefor collisions between solute and solvent particles increase. So solubility of solids increase with temperature. But solubility of gasses decrease.

Why does water boiling point decrease with increases in elavation?

The pressure of the atmosphere is less at higher elevations. The atmospheric pressure is what keeps water from turning into a gas.
