When you plug your iPod Touch into the computer Itunes detects it as an iPhone why?

it is cause basicallly the iPod touch is a iphone except without the cellphone part and if it is a ipod touch 4g then it will have almost all the same features a iphone has and they can get both get same apps depending what genaration the ipod touch is and a ipad is like the two except bigger and without the cellphone part. trust me that is what says when post something facebook with ipod touch 4g. it says via iphone
