did you check the reverse switch on the trans ?
Hey I found it, Hooray, If anyone else wants to know where it is it's on top of the gearbox.
It's a matter of replacing the reverse position swith in the transmission. This switch tells the computer wheter it's in neutral, or reverse and when in reverse it triggers the reverse lights.
Fuse 12 - a 15V. I have a 150 wagon. Couldn't find the listing in the owner's manual, but I have an OEM shop manual and it listed fuse # 12 as the backup lights.
the reverse safety back up switch is located on top of the transmission next to the clutch resivior
get a manual
When the shifter goes to the reverse position a switch is depressed to turn on the back up lights. The switch is most likely on the top of the transmission.
The switch on the transmission is bad. It usually looks like a bolt with two wires going to it. Check a service manual they are easy to replace.
There are 22 warning lights . I have the owners manual and can scan the page if anyone needs it.
You didn't state weather it was an Automatic or Manual transmission. Well any way they are both on the transmission. Manual transmission has a separate switch for the backup lights the automatic is built into the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Automatic switch is about $50.00. Manual switch is about $10.00. Hope you have a manual it is a lot cheaper.
Probably the reverse switch is bad or out of alignment. You'll need a manual to find the reverse switch. It'll be somewhere on the shifter, on the transmission, or possibly somewhere in between.
According to page 112 of the Owners Manual, fuse #6 covers the reverse/backup lights.See "Related Questions" below for more
There is a switch called the reverse backup light switch attached to the shifter. When you move the shifter into reverse, the switch is closed and current goes back to the reverse lights. The switch is located on both auto and manual trans. After making sure your bulbs are good, that is where I would look. And make sure your fuses are not blown as well in your fuse block. There usually is not just a circuit dedicated to reverse lights only but there is always something a manufacturer will do some years just to be different.
