When you put your 92 protege in reverse the back up lights do not come on anyone know how to fix it It is a manual trans and the light bulbs and fuses are good?

It's a matter of replacing the reverse position swith in the transmission. This switch tells the computer wheter it's in neutral, or reverse and when in reverse it triggers the reverse lights.

When the shifter goes to the reverse position a switch is depressed to turn on the back up lights. The switch is most likely on the top of the transmission.

Manual transmission has a separate switch for the backup lights the automatic is built into the neutral safety switch on the transmission. Automatic switch is about $50.00. Manual switch is about $10.00. Hope you have a manual it is a lot cheaper.
