It sounds like the carb is lean. You should be able to correct the situation by increasing the accelerator pump shot. You don't mention what brand of carb you're working with. Each brand has it's own way to do that.
what he said. also, stalls after a burnout, could be because the fuel levels are not set right in the float bowls of the carb, or the timing is off. if timing is correct, look into changing discharge nozzles and carb cams. you will usually have that problem if its to lean, like when using a torker II intake (or any open plenum intake).

i believe you would have to change the fuel pump.. i know that i had to replace it when changing out from TBinj to 4barrel carb

the easyest/cheapest solutions: a 4barrel carb a 500-600 use the crank of a ford 302 engine buy some racing headers and maby a exaust use smaller gaskets to increase compression
