How does the found new hardware wizard work?

Under normal circumstances, this should appear only when you are installing a new piece of hardware. The wizard itself explains how it will help you. You should have available the driver software for the hardware you are trying to install.

If the new found hardware wizard does not automatically launch or you have a problem with the wizard you can use what applet in the control panel to install the device?

Add/Remove Hardware or Install New Hardware Device.

How do you quit a Hardware installation wizard?

Simply cancel the wizard. Hit "cancel" or shut the window down by hitting the "x" ontop of the window. Windows will try to install the hardware everytime it gets found again. So when you don't want to install a certain hardware, install it without a driver and de-activate it. When the hardware is found again and again, the first installation was messed up. Then you will have to install it one time with everything the driver needs. But that's a rare condition.

How do you install a sound card on Windows 98?

Installing hardware in Windows 98 is a very simple process. First, you need to remove the cover to your computer, if the card is not already physically installed. Plug the card into an available expansion slot. Screw it in and replace the cover. Power on the computer and boot into Windows 98. A window should pop up, saying that it has found new hardware. Insert the disc that came with the hard drive, and tell it to search your CD-ROM for drivers. It should automatically find and install the appropriate drivers. If you have lost your driver disk, you will need to find them online. They should be available at the manufacturer's website. Download the drivers, and tell the Hardware wizard to search the folder where you downloaded them. It should find them and install them automatically.

What Windows feature walks you through the process of installing drivers for a new device?

Installation wizard, or follow this steps to use the Windows Device Manager:Open Windows Device Manager. Information about how to do this can be found on document CH000833. In the Device Manager make sure the device you're attempting to install is not already listed from past install attempts. If the device is found highlight it and remove it from Device Manager to prevent any conflicts during the install.Once Device Manager looks ok reboot the computer. As the computer is rebooting an install new hardware wizard should appear if Windows detects the new hardware using this wizard you should be able to point Windows to the folder containing your drivers either on the CD, diskette, or the folder containing the files you downloaded. If Windows does not detect any new hardware open Control Panel and double-click the Add hardware icon to run the hardware detection wizard. During the steps you will have an option to tell Windows you have a disk containing the drivers for your new hardware device, at this point Windows to the directory containing the drivers for your device.Once drivers have been installed reboot.

How do you prevent the 'New Hardware Found' from automatically loading in the Windows 98 SE operating system?

windows is a plug & play OS so every time you add a new device it will give you a new hardware found prompt.to prevent this you must remove the hardware or let windows try to find the driver if you try to cancel it it will just show up on the next boot so try to install it even if you don't have the drivers windows will just put it on your system without a driver.it won't hurt your system and you won't get the NEW HARDWARE FOUND PROMPT AGAIN.

How do you install a printer on an existing network?

Depends somewhat upon your OS, but usually connect printer and install printer software. The second may be performed by clicking on the 'found new hardware,' or alternately going to 'discover hardware' (on older OS's), and then following the directions to download the software from a disc or online. If persuing the online method, see that once downloaded, the software must then be installed.

How do you install a USB2 PCI?

Power down and disconnect the computer and remove the side. Install the card in one of the free PCI slots and tighten the retaining screw on the USB 2 card. Put the cover back on, re-connect the power and boot-up. If it came with a driver installation disk... Windows may say it's found new hardware and ask if you want to install the drivers for it. Click NO. When boot up complete, insert the driver installation CD in to the CD drive. It should start up, then chose the required option. You may have to re-start your PC afterwards. If it doesn't come with an installation disk then follow the instructions given when Windows reports "New Hardware Found".
