It is a small metal cannister just forward of the fuel tank. It runs 90 degrees to the centerline of the vehicle. In other words it runs right-to-left. It has snap fittings and you will need a tool to loosen the fittings. Expect fuel to spray out from residual fuel line pressure. Mark,,,,Raleigh, NC In my 1996 Achieva, it is next to the rear right tire, mounted along the gas tank. Mine did not require a special tool to release it, I was able to use pliers and great care. I took a picture of the connector and showed the guys at my local auot parts store. They explained how to do it. Make sure you use two wrenches on the other side of the filter when it comes time to unconnect it. I removed the pump fuse and tried to purge the line by running it dry, but it had no effect, I still got fuel spray everywhere. It took a while for the line to empty, but after I had, I installed the new filter and was good to go.
