Despite the obscuring mists of time, the Allet family name is well-known to have arrived in eastern England, specifically Yorkshire, following the Norman Invasion of 1066 A.D. While this surname came from the region that is now known as Belgium, it is definitely of Norman origin. Some of the family also settled in Staffordshire and Dorset in England.
