Variable resistors are called rheostats. A potentiometer can be used as a rheostat. Use the wiper terminal and one of the outside terminals for connections. The third terminal of the potentiometer is unused.

Why ac voltage varying?

AC voltage is varying because it is sinusoidal in nature

How can the frequency and voltage of an alternator be changed?

The frequency is changed by varying its speed, and the the voltage is changed by varying its field current.

Constant voltage power supplies will maintain a constant voltage under varying?

current.

How a zener diode is used in voltage regulator under both varying input and varying load condition?

In the varying input condition, the zener diode is used in such a that any variation in the input voltage, should not in any affect the load (that is the arrangement supplies just the voltage needed by the load no matter how high or low the supply voltage might go). In the varying load condition, the zener diode is connected in such a way that any change in the load voltage should not affect the input voltage.

How is synchronization achieved between an alternator and bus-bar?

Generally, synchronization refers to matching three parameters between an incoming Alternator and the existing busbar before connecting to the actual load. They are 1. Magnitude of voltage 2. Frequency 3. Phase sequence The voltage in the alterenator is matched by varying the excitation. The frequency is matched by varying the speed of the alternator by its prime-mover. The phase-sequence is matched by flipping any of the two phases if mis-matched. This can be achieved and ensured either by "Three dark lamps method" or using a synchonoscope.

How do you control dc voltage in alternators?

Typically by varying the magnetic field strength. This is done by varying the current flow through the field windings. It is usually accomplished by a voltage regulator circuit.

What type of output signal most often used by computers in automotive vehicles?

What is the measure of the output achieved divided by input required?

Productivity is the measure of the output achieved divided by input required.

What happens if voltage is constant and current is varying when an scr triggers?

Even if the current is varying,as long as the current reaches the value required to trigger the SCR, it will snap into operation. The SCR will remain in operation until the current through it drops to a value below the holding current.

What mechanism should be adopted to keep terminal voltage constant in varying loading condition in an alternator?

Voltage Regulator

What is transient voltage?

A transient voltage is a time varying voltage value. Transient says that the voltage value changes, especially from a steady state, to a new value, then back again.
