The lake or the lagoon as it is called is located in the town of Yuriria GTO. Mexico ; Yuriria original name is yuririapundiro or purépecha Yuririhapundaromeaning lake of blood .the lake was made in 1550 it's fed by the Lerma river , the lagoon is at 1750 above the sea level it has 97 km2 ,2.60 m deep and a capacity of 225 millions m3 to my best knowledge . the town also has one of the oldest convents in Latin America started in in 1550 and finished in 1559 .
