The drain for the primary is below the derby cover (large side cover) of the primary. The fill location is the derby cover area with the cover off.
The drain for the trans is located on the bottom of the trans & can be reached.... barely.... by using an extension and 5/8 socket between the rear softail shocks. The fill point in the plug by the left side trans cover (where the clutch cable enters the trans).
The engine drain is located below the frame at the swingarm pivot location on the right side of the bike. If you look below the oil tank at the bottom of the frame, you will see a hose going to a point on the frame. Under that part of the frame, you will find an identical 5/8 drain plug (identical to the trans and primary plug).
Directly at the lowest spot on the primary cover.
Torx screw below derby cover.
the right rear of the frame, look under and you will see the drain plug in there. there is a hose runing down to it from the oil tank
You remove the drain plugs. The transmission drain plug is located directly below the center of the transmission end cover on the right side of the bike and the primary chaincase drain plug is located directly below the center of the large, round clutch inspection (derby) cover.
where is the oil drain on a 2002 harley softtail
Between the two shocks, towards rear. The oil, primary, and transmission plug are in the same general area.
the oil drain plug is located near the frame, below the oil tank where the swingarm meets the frame at the bottom of the frame on the right side. There is no engine drain location as the engine is a dry sump system meaning there is no oil stored in the engine other than residual oil.
The oil drain plug is at the bottom of the oil tank (for engine). Bottom rear of primary case for primary & transmission.
rightside bottom underneath.
There is no engine oil drain plug, you change the oil in the oil reservoir under the seat. This motor is a dry sump system, meaning that there is no engine oil pan. The engine oil is circulated from an external oil tank via oil lines to an oil pump bolted to the engine on the right side of engine
Ironhead drain plugThe drain plug for the engine oil is on the right side (when sitting in the saddle) underneath and close to the front. You should drain the engine oil from the oil tank which is located on the right side of bike. you should never remove any plugs from your engine cases except for the transmission. How ever in a bike this age I find removing the primary the best way to drain trans and primary oil, because the primary chain will probably need adjusting...
The drain plug is located between the shocks.
