San Antonio Answer: There was no fighting at San Antonio, no battle and not even harsh words. There were US Troops stationed at various locations scattered around Texas when the Civil War began. The meeting at San Antonio was a negotiation between the Commander of Federal Forces and the now Confederate State of Texas for the orderly removal of US troops. The US commander had no government orders. It was concluded and the US Military withdrew in good order.
