if it is a automatic transmission you should change it every 15,000 miles, and if its a manual its recomeded at 30,000-45,000

For automatic trans you refill the fluid thru the dipstick and for manual theres a fill hole in the tranny..
Haynes Manual for Toyota Tercel 1987-1994 states: Transaxle: Automatic (drain and refill) 2.6 quarts
it takes 5 quarts. the same amount for any small engine car. be sure to remove and drain the filter during this process and to install a new one. well that's a load of crap^^My 2002 Toyota Celica GT takes only 3.7 USQuarts.
You should use about 4.8. Ive heard that was the spec, and Ive always used a flat 5, so you will be fine with any amount around there.

You refill the refrigerant through the low pressure port. See the related link below for a picture, and you can check your owner's manual for a more detailed description.
Everything 93 and up should take 134 stock. Make sure. You can look for the connectors in the lines. If they are threaded they may have came from a pre-93. You should be able to have the system vacuumed and refill with 134 regardless.
